Healing in Action Counseling Services LLC

Katie Dixon, LPC, NCC
Welcome!
Welcome to my telehealth practice! Whether you are feeling overwhelmed by the pressures of daily life, uncertain about the future or held back by painful experiences from the past, you do not have to face life's challenges alone.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. I earned my master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania. My practice is based in Philadelphia, and I am licensed to provide teletherapy to clients in Pennsylvania, Colorado and Virginia. In order to stay current with the most up-to-date therapeutic interventions in the field, I earn continuing education credits annually.
I view therapy as a collaborative process between you and I which is built upon openness, understanding, and hope. I believe the most important relationship you have is with yourself. Therefore, my work with clients centers around developing a healthy sense of self in order to manage life’s difficulties more easily. I specialize in working with clients through shifts in identity which include experiences rooted in major life changes, grief, loss, self-concept, body image, addressing patterns of internal criticism, navigating the impact of trauma and the management of subsequent anxiety and depression. Some of the foundational tools used to address these challenges are shifting perspectives, focusing on the mind-body connection and practicing boundary setting with self and others.
In my work with couples, I partner with you to understand your unique relationship dynamics and to establish new, nourishing ways of relating when old patterns are no longer serving you. In addition to traditional couples therapy, I offer specialized services for specific relationship stages. These services include structured premarital counseling, brief discernment therapy for couples at a crossroads and extended couples intensives.
No matter what you may be facing, I believe that healing is possible and available to each of us when we are met with compassion. As a therapist, my goal is to create a safe environment for my clients to express themselves, to be heard, to heal, and to explore the possibilities for making lasting changes. My approach to therapy is tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. Together we can identify the obstacles that you may be facing to navigate the path towards a more fulfilling life. All referrals are welcome.
SERVICES

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
I work with adolescents ages 14 and older and adult individuals of all ages. If you have reached a point in your life where you feel something has to change, but are unsure how to make that happen, therapy can provide the tools needed to move forward. Whether you are returning to therapy or exploring it for the first time, you are taking a very important step for yourself. We all encounter difficulties that require support and help is available. I would be honored to work with you through any challenges you are currently experiencing. If you have specific needs or preferences that I am unable to meet, I can provide a trusted referral from my network of colleagues.
COUPLES COUNSELING

Couples therapy provides a secure space to identify the unique patterns that you and your partner engage in, allowing you to establish new ways of relating and communicating. Healthy and fulfilling relationships require consistent effort, open communication, attention, respect, and trust. If you feel your relationship is lacking in any of these areas, therapy can provide the tools needed to help repair and strengthen your bond.
WHAT TO EXPECT

-
Getting Started: The first thing I like to do is set up a free 15-minute consultation to determine if we will be a good fit for each other. Once your initial session is scheduled, I will email you the paperwork needed to get started.
-
Privacy & Access: All of your information is protected and confidential. Sessions can be conducted through either a secure video call or phone call.
-
Timeline & Process: Some clients need only a few sessions to reach their treatment goals while others may continue with therapy for an extended period of time to work towards resolving more deeply rooted challenges. Therapy is often an evolving process that shifts as your needs and circumstances change.
